Kitchen Remodel, Structural Alteration, Oak floor
Benchmarx Kitchen, Granite Worktop
The kitchen remodel required structural alterations to create the new kitchen-diner. We were tasked with removing a non-supporting wall to open up a dining area, install a new kitchen and install oak flooring throughout the majority of the ground floor.
We removed the wall, made good around the building works, repaired the ceilings and plastered throughout. We installed the kitchen and tiled above the worktop.
The biggest problem we encountered was that a previous owner of the recently built property had installed a subfloor of polystyrene between 600mm spaced battens over the existing concrete floor. Why? well that is for him to know I guess, as the floor would have already been insulated when the house was built.
