Structural alteration to internal supporting wall
The wall to the left, with a radiator hanging on it, was to be removed as part of a full house refurbishment. The wall was supporting the floors above.
After adequately supporting the floors above we removed the wall. The Universal Beam was installed on a padstone on the stair side, and was supported on the chimney side by a universal beam laid across the existing alcoves, shown above before setting into place.
After damp proofing the walls and insulating the floor, we added new ceilings and plastered throughout. Adding a green oak mantle, wood burner with new hearth, and new engineered oak flooring.
