Structural Alterations, temporary support

We needed to cut out timbers after a dry-rot attack. When the ceiling and floor were taken out, it became clear why the floors above were sagging and springy. The previous owner had just taken down the internal supporting wall and left the floors above without support.

The structural engineer requested a new foundation be dug and a new column built to support the new padstone. The new Universal beam was to sit on the padstones, column one end, within the stone wall on the other

As budgets were tight, we cut the existing laminate flooring around the new foundation. We re-installed after the plastering was complete, you cant always do this, but on this occasion it worked well.
